What Part of You Did You Leave Behind?

July 29, 2026

Sometimes healing isn't about becoming someone new. It's about remembering what you had to put away.

Think about the little girl you once were.

Before the titles. Before the responsibilities. Before you learned what the world expected from you.

What was she like?

Maybe she was playful. Curious. Expressive. Maybe she trusted easily, dreamed without needing to know how it would work out, or said what she felt without calculating how it would land.

Then life happened. Maybe she learned that being quiet kept the peace. Maybe needing someone led to disappointment, so she became independent instead. Maybe she learned to take care of everyone else before she ever learned how to care for herself.

We carry those adaptations for so long that we start calling them our personality.

"I'm just independent."

"I'm the strong one."

"I've always been a giver."

But have you? We spend so much energy healing from what happened to us. We spend far less recovering what we lost because of it.

Not because we're meant to become little girls again. But because something in her her voice, her softness, her creativity, her joy, her ability to trust may still belong to the woman you are today.

So this week, don't ask yourself what you need to fix.

Sit with this instead:

What part of me have I been living without?

And if you're willing to go a little deeper:

When did I learn I couldn't be her anymore?

With you in this,

💜Isabel

LOUD WHISPER PODCAST

I went deeper into this conversation on the latest episode of the Loud Whisper podcast, where I talk about inherited identity and the parts of ourselves we learned to become through family, culture, expectations, and survival.

If this stirred something in you, I invite you to listen.

But checking the box was never the point.

Coming home to you was.

Have a great day today. 💜
